Biography

Sourav Chandidas Ganguly commonly known as Dada. He is an Indian cricket administrator, commentator, and former cricketer/captain for the Indian national team and the current president for BCCI. In 2019, he was elected as a president for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Ganguly was a top-order left-handed batsman and occasionally, he bowled right-arm medium. Ganguly was the most aggressive batsman and regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the cricket world.

Early Life

Ganguly was born into a rich family on 8 July 1972 Behala, Calcutta, West Bengal, India. His father’s name is Chandidas and his mother’s name is Nirupa Ganguly. His father Chandidas ran a flourishing print business and was one of the richest men in the city and his mother was a housewife. He is the youngest son of his parents. He has an elder brother, Snehasish Ganguly, who is an Indian former first-class cricketer. But, he did not play international cricket. In early life, Ganguly had a great passion to play cricket and his brother Snehasish supported him too much.

International Career

Test debut: The prince of Calcutta made his Test career debut on 20 – 24 June 1996 at Lord`s against England. On that match, he scored 131 runs by 20 fours from 301 balls in first innings, and the match was drawn.

Last Test: He played the last Test on 6 -10 November 2008 at Nagpur against Australia. On that match, he scored 85 runs by 8 fours and 1 six from 153 balls in the first innings and 0 runs from 1 ball in the second innings, and India won by 172 runs.

ODI debut: Ganguly made his One Day International debut against West Indies on 11 January 1992 at Brisbane. On that match, he scored 3 runs from 13 balls and West Indies won by 6 wickets with 9 balls remaining.

Last ODI: He played his last One Day International on 15 November 2007 at Gwalior against Pakistan. On that match, he scored 5 runs from 5 balls and India won by 6 wickets with 21 balls remaining.
