After eleven days he made his professional debut at the age of 16 against Stander Liege as a 69-minute substitute for Victor Bernardez on 13 May 2009 in the Championship play-off match. On 28 August 2009, he scored his first professional goal against Zulte Waregem. Lukaku scored 33 goals for Anderlecht in 73 games.
